So, this would be one of the cars we call "italy-aero"? Since it has a B204 but 185hp?

Also interesting to see that LPG-conversions can be made on turbo cars. I've only seen n/a cars converted to LPG before. Is that a "home built" kit or something sold "as is"?

The LPG kit is form PRINS - http://www.prinsautogas.com/en/ - not homemade.

And yes you can say also it's a portuguese-aero since in these to markets they tax the cubic engine size and not the BHP, so it's cheaper to get a 2.0 engine with 185 Hp (Full power Turbo) than getting a 2.3 170 Hp (Low power Turbo) in terms of taxes.

And currently I'm thinking of putting a B234 Engine on it and still have a smaller project (my father's 9000). It's 9000 2.0 anniversary and already has a TD04-HL-15T and my old brakes (with 17" wheels).

Re: SAAB 9000 CSE - SMAP

Really good looking rims! I'm usually no fan of aftermarket rims, but they actually made the car look better

Well, changing the internals of your engine to 2.3litres should pose no problem, noone would ever be the wiser considering nothing shows from the outside

PRINS homepage only refers to the ng9-3 as being able to use LPG with turbo. And the 9-5, so one could use a kit for the 9-5 with T7 cars (ie og9-3).

The only og9-3 I've seen converted was a 2.0i, and it had the gas tank in the spare wheel well. Where is yours situated? Did you have to make any ugly holes in the bodywork to accommodate the filling cap?

Are these strange taxations still in effect? I mean, that would make a lot of todays cars more expensive.

    I prefer mine Ronal R38 17" rather than my father's speedline SL2

    But ronal stopped producing R38

They to the ugly holes here in Germany, but in Portugal normally they install it along with the normal petrol cap and it will be cover. when you want to fill you just need to use an adapter like this

Portugal is a strange country even for me being Portuguese ... the strange taxation still exist.

Just to give you an example - a used BMW 120 Diesel from 2009 (I'm not using SAAB as an example because it's easier to see it in German brands)

Used BMW 120D in Portugal (you don't need to understand Portuguese just look ate the numbers)

    http://www.standvirtual.com/carros/anun ... sort=1&id=

Used BMW 120D in Germany (you don't need to understand German just look ate the numbers)

    http://www.autoscout24.de/ListGN.aspx?a ... U&nm=false

It's half price ... but if I decide to take a German car to Portugal I have to pay big taxes ...

Half a year ago I bought a 9000 Aero MY1996 in Spain for 1000€ and the price to legalize it in Portugal was 18.000€ in taxes so I had to break it ... they don't want "old" cars in Portugal and they tax it a lot

    Well, yours are fine too

[Aha, so it's partly "home made" then Using components. Was that difficult? I mean, getting it all to work fine with extra horsepower (which I assume you have )

Uh? So, there's an extra LPG-connector next to the ordinary cap? You still need petrol to start, I assume?

It all sounds a bit like Denmark. You don't have yearly tax on the car as we have? The Danes pay 180% tax on the price of the car, but that's it, tax paid. In Sweden, we do like in Germany, pay tax every year on the car.
This means, that cars in Portugal still hold value, since the tax is contained within the car so to say, you can get the tax back (sort of) by selling the car.

What happens when you scrap a car (that is registered and "on the road")? Do you get any tax refunds or is it like ruining your (economic)life if you crash a new car? Do insurance take into effect that cars are worth a lot more second hand (I hope, that would be how I'd regulate it )?

The installation need to be done by a certified installer, this certified installer normally knows which system/brand to use.

In my case I've study which system could work with the power that I have (I contacted Prins to get all the specs from their systems) and they asked my normal installer if he could install it (he normally uses Italian brands, and in my car he would use BRC - http://www.brc.it/default.aspx?lang=en). He accepted the "challenge" and did it, but I also have the software and a cable interface to connect to it since I'm always cahnge stuff on Trionic ..

Yes I still need Petrol to start the car since the car was design to work with Petrol

Yes, the taxes are included in the price/value of the car so the insurance company has to pay the full value if I crash the car.

But I find much more interesting/fair paying taxes every year than all at once.

Well, one of the pros of paying taxes all at once is that you know what the tax will be every year (ie none) while in Sweden, taxes may be changed during the cars life.
Luckily, one of my cars is tax exempt (I think you can guess which one )

Cool that one can actually have a powerful car and drive on LPG. Is the tank in the trunk (heh) or is it located where it don't intrude on luggage space? I wonder if it would be possible to get a car in sweden converted to lpg (legally)? What kind of milage do you get on lpg (how much in the tank?)? Do you need to drive between pumps or do you actually get anywhere on it?

Yes it's located in the trunk, in the spare wheel space (which basically won't even fit because of my big brake kit).

I don't do the counting in millage, but Liters per KM but normally it spends more 10 to 15% than using petrol. But LPG costs less than half per liter compared to Petrol ...

I've driven my car from Portugal to Germany and back and the only place where I can't find LPG is in SPAIN (In France you find it in almost every tank station). Also went for vacations to Italy and had no problems. I have a Garmin GPS and the LPG POI (point of interest) for Germany/Austria/Switzerland stats that there are 5200 Tank stations of LPG (So I really never have any problem filling the tank).
