B202 block differences between OG900 Turbo, NA, and 9000

What are the differences between a B202 non-turbo and Turbo block in an OG900? They have different part numbers in the Electronic Parts Catalog.

Also, what are the differences between B202 blocks for the 900 and 9000? Again, there are different part numbers in the EPC for the blocks.

    Thanks!

I'm fairly sure that the block casting itself from 1985 up in both c900's and 9000's (except the V6 equipped 9k's) is the same - a regular second-series 'H' block (though I'll have a look in EPC myself and see what the part numbers say). From 1982 to 1984 the first-series 'H' block was used in both 99's and classic 900's, and before 1982 the 'B' block was used in C900's (and 99's). The first series 'H' block was not used in any 9000's, unless it was used in prototypes before production started.

One of the key differences between turbo and non-turbo engines based on the same block is the pistons - turbo engines have slightly deeper 'dished' pistions because those engines have a lower compression ratio than their non-turbo counterparts.

As far as I know, the 2.0 and 2.1 engine configurations for 16V C900's definitely used the same engine block. Not sure about the 2.3 engine configuration for 16V C900's and 9000's though. Of course the cylinder heads and other external parts vary between 2.0, 2.1 and 2.3 configurations.

The og900 B202 turbo block has a hole in the side for the returning oil from the turbocharger, the non-turbo block has not.

Re: B202 block differences between OG900 Turbo, NA, and 9000

All B202 blocks after the late 80s have the oil outlet and return holes, they're just plugged with a freeze plug for the return and a bolt for the outlet.

The engines differ in an OG and a 9000 mainly by the following:

    - back plate is different
    - timing cover is different
    - mounts are different
    - manifolds are different
    - the sumps are different
    - crank pulley is different, along with all the helper devices like water pump, alternator, power steering pump, etc..

Basically the block + crank + rods + pistons + head are the same, everything else is different between the two..
