Saab 9000 Griffin -94

Hello. I purchased car descripted in topic and would like to have more information about this special model. It is old model CD chassis and with Trionic 5.5 engine management and manual transmission.

What I especially would like to know is how many -94 Griffins are manufactured? IS there any websites about Griffin? Google didn't help at all.

All other information about this model is welcomed too.

Well, even if they may seem pretty unusual, they're not extremley so.

The Griffin models were made from 1993(?) up until 2001.
At first these cars were 9000 CDs with every option available and with the option of Zegna-made wool interior. They had the 2.3l 200hp engine and auto gearbox (few manual exist).
In 1995, when the CD recieved a facelift, the engine was replaced with an n/a V6 delivering 210hp. The 9000 griffin ended with the other 9000s in 1997. The 9000s have leather interior or, in some very rare cases, the Aero-interior.

In 1998 the 9-5 was launched and the 9-5 Griffin was the top-of-the-line.
Now with a turbocharged V6 (same as the 9000) but with 10hp less than the n/a in the 9000 The turbo lacks wastegate and has very little boost. The 9-5 griffin was also fully equipped with all extras.

In the US, they had a "griffin edition" 1992 which was similar to the "real" Griffin, but were only sold in a limited number (400). This was most probably a US marketing thing. 9000s with all extras.

Thanks for the info. I suppose that -93 Griffin is with T5.2 (=long-block)?

I agree that manual Griffin with B234 is quite rare, actually mine is the only one I have seen in Finland for sale.

Anyway, great car and now when T5 suite has came, home tuning is quite easy to do with proper tools .
