Wanted: 8V turbo exhaust manifold that isn't cracked !

    Hi everyone,

I'm after a replacement 8V turbo exhaust manifold. The one that's currently in the 8VT I'm restoring has some significant cracks, the main one being this crack which runs quite a way around that part of the casting.

I've got some Permatex hi-temp metal repair compound to try, and some other people have suggested I try out JB Weld, but I'd like to have a good manifold casting on hand.

Also, does anyone know of a source of the turbo over-boost pressure cut-out switch that sits under the bottom of the dash connected to the intake manifold vacuum line? I don't have the right one for the car (8V non-APC).

Thanks if you know of sources for either of those items.

I have now obtained two - not one - good replacement exhaust manifold castings for the 8V turbo engine! One through Saab Serve here in Sydney, and the other one from an Ebay seller in South Australia! The Ebay one cost me A$15 plus postage and it's in better condition than the one which Saab Serve found for me, but both are in massively better condition (and are the newer type with the cast-in rib) than the original one removed from the engine.

For the sake of comparison, here are some pics of the original and replacement exhaust manifold castings...

Unfortunately one of the bolts for the water pump broke off when I was removing the old pump which was badly decayed so I am waiting to get stud removers before the rebuild of the engine can start.. Bummer! Other than a good cylinder head (I'm thinking the coolant passage corrosion is too bad to risk re-using the head in the longer term), I've got everything I need short of replacements for all the rusty bolts. I'd like to replace them all with new hi-tensile bolts. What anti-sieze compound is the best to use when re-assembling classic 900 engines btw?
