This is my first project and I'm happy to share it with you. Why in english, because I'm not swedish and I'm sure that some people outside of the country might want to read about it. Feel free to write your comments in swedish (sure I can read it) and please send all complaints to Turbocab

The story starts with an Odoardo grey og900 Aero 1987 which I bought from a nice young man in Upphärad. His bad economy was to my advantage so I came home with what I consider to be my dream car. Here she is just after purchase and a good wash. She has been given the name Amanda. Where that came from can take up a whole other thread.

Even though this kid had modded the car a little (more on that later) it was still very original and very well equiped. Something told me this car was special. What I noticed directly was that the chassis number on the car was AD35L0H2000070 which made it a very early Aero car. In fact according to information I've received from other's on this site it is the 3rd Aero car made in 1987 and the first one of this year model made in Odoardo grey for the Swedish market.

She has a little extra equipment as well including the large Aero wing, wood instrument panel and matching steering well. The kid's mods where as follows: 4-speed trans which got replaced by a correct 5-speed (7 ratio), 3" exhaust with battery moved to the trunk. He also had a home made open dump valve which I quickly replaced with an original since the car did not want to idle.

I've now owned the car for close to a year and since she's got 280,000k on her it's time for a well deserved overhaul. My goal is to have her ready for Knutstorp this year but as you will soon find out I have my work cut out for me. Hold your thumbs as you all like to say and stay tuned for updates.

Glen: Det låter ju bra Martin i så fall att bilen inte är färdig då och om du kommer iväg med . Jag var nara att köpa Grålle men till slut köpte jag ogGrållen istället. Det ska var kull att se Grålle igen och se vad Beeos har gjort med bilen.

I backed her out of the garage one last time before I started the project. Here are a few pics.


The motor is planned to come out this weekend. Here she lies in the garage.



My plans with the car are as follows:
2.3 cylinder head
2.1 inlet manifold
general overhaul of engine block, honing etc.
upgrade to water cooled TE05-12B turbo
replace exhaust manifold
new APC magnet valve
9000 IC
adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Boost guage

Here are some of the parts from my list.


The original turbo had a big crack around the waste gate valve, and the exhaust manifold was cracked as well. If anybody has a T16 grenrör they want to sell (original or extractor) then contact me! Here is a pic of the crack.

Ok, friday night went as planned. Nico showed up and helped me prepare the engine for removal. Now it's just to pick up a "cherry picker" or Motorlyft tomorrow and then it's on to the engine overhaul. Here's a photo of how it looks at the moment.



And what is a project like this without a little damage to your body. Check out this nice war wound. I like to call this one Ooops!



This is off topic but I must say that the highest setting on this microwave does not give the result that I expected.


Tomorrow I'll be sure to update on how the engine removal went.

Saturday was a long day / night! Nico and I started off by assembling a rather large and robust Biltema motor lift where I work since my garage had no space. Look at how big this monster was in front of Nico's car! Nico was quick to give the lift some speedparts styling




Then we drove back to my garage and the motor lift made quick work of the engine which we quickly placed in the car since the snow had magically returned


We then returned to my work and started taking the engine apart. This is where Nico (in the picture) got excited. He loved to rip the engine apart. He was moving so quick I could hardly get him in a photo Thanks for the great help Nico, you're a great friend!




We soon had a nice pile of parts and the motor block took a bath in acid. It turns out the block was grey! Strange color, I thought these were red....?



Here is a pic of the parts after cleaning (the 5 speed transmission is not cleaned yet).


We did have enough time to clean up my old Kokil 4 speed låda / transmission. If anybody is interested in it then let me know.


After all of this we were super tired so we cleaned up and went home to sleep. The next step is honing. If anybody has some good contacts in that area then send me a PM. Otherwise I'm going to do it myself.

Alot has happed to the car this week and I look forward to the wild week ahead. Maybe this car will make it to Knutstorp afterall!

Nästa helg så hinkar vi la i motorn igen om vi håller samma tempo som vi har gjort nu? Vi tog ju ut motorn ur bilen och var klara med isärmonterningen 6 timmar senare

Shit, det var snabbt jobbat... Jag var svinnöjd när jag fick ur min maskin på backen på 5,5 timmar. Visserliggen själv, men ändå. Ni har ju fått isär hela maskin på en dag... Kommer bli kanon det här!

Hoppas jag kan få lite tid med lyften till sommaren och byta låda på den svarte..... Ni får väl titta på och håna mig för långsamheten.
